RAPP TRAINING
RAPP (Leadership and Reconciliation) training ran during the summer months for participants of SOUNDING BOARD and it had 11 people taking part. It was delivered by experienced tutors Jill Caskey and Darryl Petticrew from the YMCA,Belfast. The graduates have qualified with an OCN Level II which will definitely prove useful in the personal and professional futures
Aug 12 to 14 - Weekend one was at Share Centre, Lisnaskea where topics covered included the idea of citizenship, discrimination, career and personal paths. This was complimented by wind surfing and canoeing.
Aug 19 to 21th - Weekend two was at Strandhill, staying at Strandhill Hostel and Community Centre. During these discussions, ideas and views on peace walls, stereotyping, conflict and heritage were heard. Teambuilding included a trip to hear live music at The Model Arts Centre, Sligo and surfing at Rossnowlagh.
Sept 30 to Oct 2nd- Weekend three was held at Monaghan TEC, near Monaghan town. This was an opportunity to hear invited speakers Marie McGivern and John Maxwell as they recounted their experiences of conflict. Communication and leadership skills were also focussed on. This was complimented with a low ropes course plus the mud slide. The pictures here say more than a thousand words as to how much fun it was.
