The SOUNDING BOARD project for young people based in Sligo and FermanaghSOUNDING BOARD is a multi discipline project for young people based in Sligo and Fermanagh. It offers unique quality training for 12-18 year olds on how to use up-to-the-minute music and multimedia equipment, compose and record original pieces of music and rhythm, develop design skills, gain insight into the music and performance industry as well as meet new people.

This project has been created by Sligo LEADER Partnership Company and is supported by the International Fund for Ireland. SOUNDING BOARD will run for 2 years in 2 x one year cycles and builds upon the success of the Sligo Partnership's New Media Youth Collective. 5 hubs have been identified across 5 areas within rural counties Sligo and Fermanagh. SOUNDING BOARD has a working committee made up of youth leaders from clubs and church groups to link areas at another level.

SOUNDING BOARD sets out to develop sustainable local structures that will support cross community/border links and the youth sector. It uses music and music technology as the tools to engage with young people ages 12- 18 The capacity of local youth and community leaders will be built upon strengthening resources across the rural border areas.

These outcomes are being delivered in several formats to suit diverse needs. A Launch offering taster sessions, short evening and weekend sessions, cultural study trips to professional studios, RAPP training (Reconciliation and Peace) and a summer scheme designed by each of the 5 hubs.
